  • Vice President Founder member, erstwhile Bagman for many of ESMMM's formative years Chris 'Mr Ewell' Pottinger accepted the Team's invitation to become their new Vice President - a motion put forward at the ’07 AGM.

  • Peter (& Audrey) Hogben The Team enjoyed a rendezvous with The President , at his local pub in Rowledge nr Farnham on Thursday 8th May. So good to see him in such good health & spirits. He seemed to enjoy the dancing, too!

  • Plenty of action on St George's Day this year, with an impromptu meeting with The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson at Leadenhall Market. OK, OK he wasn't Mayor then - obviously our influence swung it for him! Great hospitality provided by the City of London landlords.

  • Ewell Dance Tradition
'Lord Willoughby's' hanky dance now being danced out to the sound of Kate's lone recorder - enchanting! An old tune she adapted herself. Also 'Brighthelmstone' & 'Seven Stars' - both stick dances, part of the '08 repertoire. Watch out for 'The Farriers of Epesham!'

  • Hon Archivist Chris Pottinger [VP] would welcome with open arms any enquiries as to our history. May even tempt you into hearing a ‘fascinating epic’ concerning ‘rose-tinted water & a finger-bowl!

  • Musicians Where would we be without them? 'Lead' musician Eric Warren (Melodeons), Kate 'Kevin' Jackson & contributions from Alan Greenwood (Fiddle) & Richard Becksmith (Melodeon) are sincerely appreciated.

  • Now keep this to yourself, but word is, Eric Warren has made a further capital purchase - funds cannot be disclosed here, but buy him a 'London Pride' & he may just tell you - an Accordia 1-row 4 stop jobbie, no less!

  • Reverence too, to our new Bagman, Ray Watson. Working his socks off in his new Office - but his craftsmanship with a certain washboard & an older melodeon is very much appreciated by two old wuzzocks. The 'Barrel Stick trolley' is, of course, stuff of legend.

  • Talking of legends - one word - 'Mingella!'

  • Some things don't change. Rick at 'The Willoughby Arms' in Kingston - is there a better Landlord anywhere?

  • The Wheatsheaf, Ewell - We are indeed blessed with our Home pub now being under the fine stewardship of Julie. Excellent ales & great ambiance - what a good man she is.
